Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) is a national youth development organisation that uses outdoor adventure and experiential learning to build character, resilience, and leadership.

The client required a large-scale, realistic cliff environment at the new OBS Coney Island campus at Coney Island. One that could safely support multiple high-adventure elements, elevate the authenticity of the outdoor experience, and inspire confidence in youth participants.

Pico Play designed and constructed a 170-meter-long, 20-meter-high GFRC cliff wall. By pre-fabricating the panels in our Malaysia facility, we accelerated the installation process, while our skilled artists meticulously carved and painted the rockwork to authentically replicate Singapore’s natural formations.

A breathtaking showpiece within OBS Coney Island, this expansive cliff wall creates an impressive backdrop and enriches the high-adventure experience. Adventurous youths can challenge themselves across nine distinct obstacle routes integrated directly onto the cliff wall, supported by ropes, traverses, and vertical elements that encourage strategic thinking, teamwork, and personal courage. The realistic rockwork amplifies the tension and excitement of the course making participants feel as though they are scaling an authentic natural cliff face, providing a highly immersive experience.

Despite an early large delay due to the client’s situation, then upon commencement tight timelines, challenging site conditions, multiple contractor integrations, and high-level work areas, Pico Play successfully delivered the project within the contracted timeframe with a Zero-Defect completion and handover.
