Pico Play is a global leader in themed entertainment design and construction. From our Kuala Lumpur office, we deliver world-class themed environments, attractions, and immersive experiences that merge creativity, technology, and precision. Our team works across concept design, digital modelling, fabrication, and installation—bringing imaginative worlds into reality.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking, and highly organised BIM Manager to lead our digital delivery workflows across themed entertainment projects.
This senior role oversees BIM strategy, model quality, team capability, and coordination processes, ensuring all digital models—from concept through construction—accurately reflect design intent and support efficient fabrication and installation.
As BIM Manager, you will establish and maintain BIM standards, mentor BIM/Revit staff, manage multi-disciplinary digital integration, and ensure that creative theming elements are seamlessly incorporated into coordinated BIM environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic BIM Leadership
- Define, implement, and continually improve BIM standards, protocols, and digital workflows including alignment with EIR standards across all theming projects
- Develop long-term BIM strategies to support project delivery, coordination, and future growth of Pico Play’s digital capabilities.
- Develop and maintain interoperability standards to ensure smooth data exchange between Revit, Rhino, CAD, and other platforms.
- Manage the Common Data Environment (CDE) including version control, file naming, and access governance.
Quality Control & Model Governance
- Oversee model integrity, naming conventions, file structures, and digital compliance across all project stages.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure models meet internal and client-required standards and periodic Revit model health checks, including warnings review, file optimisation, and data cleanup.
- Manage federated models and ensure alignment between architectural, structural, MEP, and theming scope.
- Define and enforce LOD and LOI requirements for every project stage and verify compliance.
Coordination Oversight
- Approve and direct the clash detection process (Navisworks or equivalent), ensuring timely identification and resolution of conflicts.
- Facilitate coordination workshops with internal teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Maintain and govern shared coordinates to ensure all models align correctly across disciplines.
Theming Integration Leadership
- Guide teams in translating creative theming concepts into technically robust BIM models.
- Ensure sculptural, organic, and complex geometry elements integrate seamlessly with built infrastructure.
- Establish and maintain tolerance standards for themed fabrication elements to ensure consistency during installation.
Team Management & Mentorship
- Lead, mentor, and develop BIM Technicians, Coordinators, and digital modellers.
- Provide training in best practices, advanced Revit techniques, and digital workflows.
- Oversee team resource allocation and support capability growth within the KL office.
Documentation & Digital Deliverables
- Approve final construction documentation generated from BIM models.
- Oversee systematic QA for all drawings, ensuring consistency in annotations, sheet naming, and dimension standards.
- Ensure deliverables—including drawings, schedules, and digital exports—meet project requirements and deadlines.
Innovation & Technology Adoption
- Research and adopt new digital tools, plugins, and modelling techniques to enhance coordination and production efficiency.
- Support integration of parametric tools, 4D/5D workflows, and enhanced digital visualisation for themed environments.
- Identify opportunities for automation using Dynamo, Grasshopper, or custom scripts to improve team efficiency.
Project & On-Site Support
- Provide high-level BIM support during fabrication and installation phases.
- Ensure site teams receive accurate, up-to-date model data and coordinated digital information.
- Review and support RFI and technical queries through accurate, model-based information.
- Manage the workflow for as-built modelling, including scan integration, verification, and updates.
How This Role Differs From a Standard BIM Manager Position
Themed entertainment BIM management demands a unique blend of technical coordination and creative integration:
- Models include irregular, artistic, and sculpted geometry beyond typical architectural forms.
- Coordination involves non-standard materials, finishes, and fabrication-driven detailing.
- The role bridges concept artists, designers, engineers, and fabricators—requiring both creative sensitivity and technical rigour.
- BIM supports storytelling as much as construction; the role ensures artistic intent is protected while enabling buildability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a BIM Manager, Senior BIM Coordinator, or similar leadership role.
- Expert proficiency with Revit, federated modelling, and complex coordination.
- Strong command of Navisworks or similar clash-detection tools.
- Deep understanding of construction methods, building systems, and digital project delivery.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage BIM teams in both creative and technical environments.
- Possess strong understanding of interoperability formats including IFC, DWG, SAT, 3DM, and mesh optimisation.
Desirable Additional Skills
- Experience with themed entertainment, attractions, or sculptural/complex geometry projects.
- Familiarity with Rhino, Grasshopper, or other parametric/digital modelling tools.
- Experience with Procore or similar project management software.
- Understanding of 4D/5D BIM workflows.
- Ability to develop custom families and adaptive components for themed elements.
- Experience managing point clouds and laser scanning workflows for as-built verification.
Why Join Pico Play?
