Al Ain Zoo Animal Habitat Design

Al Ain Zoo required a thematic overlay and animal habitat design for seven distinct habitats representing environments from around the world. The challenge was to create immersive, authentic zoo environments that supported animal enrichment and natural behaviours while delivering an engaging and educational visitor experience.

‍

Pico Play researched each species’ natural habitat and international zoological habitat references to inform the design approach. Working closely with the client’s appointed zoological consultants and landscape architects, Pico Play developed authentic themed animal environments adapted to the unique conditions of the UAE.

‍

The collaboration delivered a unique and educational zoo visitor experience, bringing animals from major continents together through a seamless series of immersive habitats. The carefully considered environments supported the expression of natural animal behaviours while creating an engaging connection between guests, animals and their habitats.
